Before we dive in, the first thing I want you to know is a brand photo shoot’s sole purpose isn’t to just capture beautiful photos, there is strategy behind the visuals. My goal with a brand photo shoot is to help my business STAND OUT and thrive in my niche, further develop my brand presence & communicate a story. Photographs communicate a lot, and combined with the right words they are a powerful form of marketing.

What to wear during the photoshoot

As an entrepreneur your clothing choices in real life and in your brand photos are an important factor to showcase your brand image.

What you wear communicates a lot about your personality and professionalism, meaning it can have a major impact on first impressions and communicating your overall brand message.

If you’re in the process of planning a personal branding photo shoot, you may find yourself stressing out wondering “what on earth do I wear!?!?” It might feel like there’s a lot of pressure when deciding what to wear because you also want to feel comfortable and love how you look, in addition to considering what your wardrobe is communicating to your audience and customers.

My outfit tips

  • prepare multiple outfit options
  • only wear clean, fit clothes that you like
  • don’t over accessorize- you are the main point of focus not the necklace or earrings

How to pose during photoshoot

The way you pose show a lot of your personal traits so make sure your photos show up in a way you want to be seen.

Prepare the exact photos you want. Go on Pinterest and look for ideas you like. Create a vision boards with all the pictures you like. Go on websites with personal branding images and copy everything you like. Be prepared. Show your photographer what you want before you book a shoot. Make sure they can do the style you want. No one wants to end up with cheesy photos that they don’t like and are not going to use. So don’t waste your money prepare photos, interview several photographers, see the style they shoot.

Make sure you know the details how much time it will take to have the photos sent to you, how many will be retouched. Know it all before you decide.

Want to be seen as someone confident, focused but also funny and easy to work with, try those poses.

They will show you as a human, not a robot. Natural smile, laugh, focus and confidence.

Take some pictures outside, it doesn’t have to be all office pictures.

Smile! Make sure your photography is pleasant to look at and bring out positive emotions. Here my favorite photoshoot ideas from Sara Dann and Julie Solomon IG pages.

Try different perspectives (front, top, side), more cozy outfit, showing your daily life and more professional.

Confidence

This pictures shows confidence

Can you spot a difference, why this one below is no longer confident?

The teeth! You can show teeth on the laughing photos, not on the confident photos.

Why you need to hire a professional photographer

  1. Quality of the photo
  2. Backgrounds
  3. Ability to cut pictures and have invisible background
  4. Experience
  5. Retouch

What not to do during photoshoot

Don’t fake it. Don’t wear clothes you feel uncomfortable in, don’t fake smile, don’t fake a serious face. The beauty of having a professional taking your pictures is they will be able to catch the right moments when you laugh, smile so the pictures look natural.

This pictures below are beautiful I mean I still love them, but it’s not a natural smile.

Most importantly make sure that you are relaxed and comfortable, let your photographer know when you are stressed out and figure out a plan to feel most comfortable. Try to get to know the photographer a little bit, maybe joke. Have music on during the photoshoot. If you are stressed and tense it will show on pictures. Most importantly enjoy it! Get a facial, massage, buy new clotes, make sure you are happy and relaxed before the shoot.

Joanna

Hi, my name is Joanna, I started this blog in Jan 2017. I created posts about beauty, fashion, travel, rabbits, money blogging ect. Simply put: all the stuff I care about. After 10 months I realized my blog is not getting enough traffic so I dived into research. Till Oct 2017 I only had around 700 visitors on my blog per month. Then I implemented my Pinterest strategy and automated my pinning with my own build tool – PinMeApp. In Nov 2017 I got 3300 page views and then in Dec 2017 8500. That is how my app was born: PinMeApp. I wanted to help others grow traffic to their sites as well. Today I offer subscription for my app, but I also teach people my Pinterest strategy, step by step what I did to grow the traffic so fast, so this blog is now getting around 20k page views each month. I also offer Pinterest Management and implement my strategy for brands who want to reach their audience on Pinterest as well. My Pinterest account reaches over 5m people monthly. If you want such results feel free to contact me. Cheers, Joanna
